usb to ethernet adapter - establish internet connection w/ PS3?

5 replies 1766 views Edited Apr 14, 2011

Would anyone happen to know if it's possible to use a usb-to-ethernet adapter to get online for the PS3? Would the PS3 recognise it? I only have one ethernet port in my computer (that I use for online w/ the actual PC); and my wifi connection is not strong enough. I am getting 10ish% signal, that my friend is not to great with Netflix or Mgo.

Any responses would be much appreciated

if you got your pc connected through ethernet why cant you just connect the ps3 through ethernet, you are close enough to your pc to be wanting to use that, and you state that your pc is using ethernet. so just run another ethernet cable to the ps3 or put a router in place near your pc and connect the ps3 through that.

The second one will if you plug the usb into your PC then connect an ethernet cable between that adapter and the PS3's ethernet port then enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on your PC and set your IP adresses etc . But like someone said above why not just get a router? Also if you have a wifi signal then do you not have a router or does your highspeed modem just have a wifi access point built in?

Did the PS3 recognize the internet connection with the adapter being connected to the PC?
