Re: tip to keep your ps3 cool

Jul 15, 2012

I have my a/c set to 74*F and I keep my rooms clean and I use an air purifier in each room to lower the dust buildup.

I have to PS3's, a CECHA01 60Gb, and a CECHE01 80Gb models.

They've never had any issues with overheating, and never had YLOD or ever had any repairs done.

I've wired up some pc fans to a switch then a wall plug adapter switch it on when playing it sucks away hot air and helps draw the air in at the front and underneath I've also put little rubber feet in the corners to jack it up. Seems to make a difference as the fan never kicks up a gear Smiley Wink

I have a old PS3 60GB model and let me say, I bought a inter cooler that attached to the end of the unit of the BD drive. Its sucked the hot air out but was extremely HOT to the point I thought it would burn up the system or burn your hands. So I took it off and just made sure that there's lots of space around the system. Had no issues except it heats up my living like hell haha.

My old 80gb ps3 was like a space heater. I made sure to blow it out with a can of air at least once a week, since I'm a heavy gamer, and I had my air conditioner directly behind it because I didn't want the sunlight to wake me up the morning, so I had the tv blocking the window.

I use a twistdock which sits my slim on a slightly raised vertical angle (http://www.vogels.com/press/press-release-archive/level-up-your-playstation-3-with-vogels-twistdock.... Separate to that I use a Gioteck In2link usb module (http://www.gioteck.com/products/playstation-3/other-accessories-ps3/in2link/) for additional functionality, and I've picked up a really quiet usb fan for circulating the air around the rear of the console (http://www.amazon.ca/Arctic-Breeze-Mobile-Cooling-Laptops/dp/B003XN24GY/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1360... The best cooling tip I would give though is to use a wired internet connection, seriously .....

* the first two links didn't come off as intended so search within the product page and you'll get there
