My point all along has been that practically ANY paste is better that what Sony puts on its PS3s. I believe Sony uses cheap low grade thermal grease that we can buy in blister packs. Like this:

My old paste in the CECHH01 wasn't the common white zinc paste. It was grey.

I heard about that, but it seems that the white silicone paste is used far more often, and still being used...

I don't think using that paste was intentially used to save money, it is standard stuff but doesn't last very long on hot 65nm-90nm processors. It may be just fine to use on the PS3 Slim's 40nm-45nm processors...

there really isn't much of a difference in heat between the 45nm and 65nm(tests have shown only about a 2-3 degree celsius difference)but these tests are done on pc units so the ps3 may differ some but it cant be much different but the 90nm will fry bacon..lol
