That's still pretty full. How many games do you have? Have a look in Game Data Utility and see how much of the used space Game Data makes up.

That's a huge amount of Game Data. How many games do you have? Which game is consuming the lion's share? Find the top three.

Thats about 55.6GB worth of stuff.

Got to remember there are games such as GT5 that like to put about 10gb of disk data on the HDD.

My buddy has about 12ish games and hes past the 60GB mark.

I only have about 5ish games worth of game data and used up around 46GBs

So it's normal though? I just wanna make sure that there's nothing wrong with my system or that it doesn't need to be restored. And yes, I have a lot of games, more than a few that are pretty big, so i guess I should have expected it.

It's normal if you have a lot of games. Consider getting a larger hard drive.

Boy I feel stupid... Well, thank you very much, sorry if I wasted a lot of your time. I probably will get a larger hard drive soon, seeing as everything's all backed up anyway.

I just tried to download Call of Duty Black Ops after buying the game from the playstation store, said it was 18 GB and I had 22 GB of free space on my 80 GB system. I had to delete most of my game data utility and some game saves which took quite a while and it finally let me download it after freeing up 17 GB of free space... -_-

You need to have double the amount of memory of a downloaded game to install it. It's because you download one package file, which extracts everything to your PS3 when you install. So you need to have space for the package file, and the stuff that it's extracting. After it's done installing, the package file is deleted and it ends up taking as much space as the original download.

@OP (I know it's old, but still) :

A good soultion would be to delete game data from games you won't play again/don't play much. Just make sure they're big when you delete them, because anything small is not worth deleting.
