"Why would sony give you a free $15 map pack, its not like you pay a monthly fee to play online."
FINALLY! A voice of reason! People are stuck on a mentality that says they "deserve" something and if they can't have their entertainment, they start acting like their world is ending. The following is directed at the over reacting people, not White Wolf 03
FACT: You can, in fact, have a life without a game controller in your hand. Getting emotionally attached to gaming isn't healthy. Yeah, not being able to play is annoying, but (GASP!) people can... do something ELSE!
You pay for games and a console. There is NOTHING about having a network to play those games FOR FREE that means you are entitled to it. The network is provided as an add-on. Just because you own a car doesn't mean that the car company is required to give you a track to run it on. The PSN is a seriously cool thing that Sony provided, but it's not a profit maker for them - they make money by selling consoles, games and add-ons for those games.
The whole thing could be like MS and you could have to pay a fee for it - some games do require it.
So the network is down for a while - tough. Go do something with people in person. Learn to interact in person instead of through a screen and controller. You might actually get to like it.
I think everyone deserves some sort of compensation for the inconvenience over the holiday. Maybe not a $15 map pack but maybe a free movie or avatar of your choice.
That's a lot more reasonable. I might have seemed a little harsh, but I am really tired of people demanding things. Suggestions are cool - remembering that the people who work at Sony are just as human as the people who use their services goes a long way.
or you could do things the old school way and do what a kid probably your age would do... lemonade stand, instead of begging for free stuff/content kids these days are so use to getting things handed to them, use your brain thats what it's for.
