With the release of GT6 and GTA5 on PS3 you'd be silly to buy a PS4 anyway...

I'm pretty sure GT6 is coming to the PS4 as well.  They just didn't want to rain on Evo's parade (DriveClub) at the announcement a few months ago.

Realy? I sort of expected a GT7 or Prologue game on the PS4.

Here is an idea why not come up with a way to use the IBN/ Bar scan code on the back of bought games from previous systems to get a downloaded version of games. I'm one of those people who have hated having to give up my games from previous consoles like the PS2. its difficult and expensive to keep having to replace a console and keep up to date just to play a certain franchise...

The bar code on the back of the game box means nothing. I can go into a GameStop, use my cell phone to take pictures of every single barcode on every game in the store, and then print them out. How does that prove I own the game? The only way I can see this possibly working is if the system is designed so that the PS4 can identify the game disc in the drive, and thusly determine that you do indeed have the physical copy.

Would be nice if Sony went forward with that line of thinking, but we'll all have to just wait and see.

ok i can understand that with the ps3 games but the ps2 games are no longer in stores and their barcodes not active... it would make compatability to the ps1 & 2 a lot simpler.

Go do a search on Google and you can find countless numbers of PS1 and PS2 game cases with the bar code fully intact.  There are databases out there which provide the UPC numbers for every game for the systems, and software which will print it out in a bar code format for you.  So once again, how can Sony verify that you actually own that game and haven't just copied a bar code you found online?

The ONLY way for the identification to work is to have the PS4 be able to read the disc that is inserted into the machine and recognize it as a specific game from a specific console.

We'll just need to wait and see what Gaikai entails and brings.
