I have a Verizon router 150mbps/65mbps and on my computer I get about 153mbps/73mbps 8 ping on average. But with the PS3 online gaming I get about 50mbps/25mbps at best. Most of the time its about 30mbps/5 to 10 mbps and using a cat 5 wire connection. What can I do to get the max speed and be more consistent.
Honestly even if that is all you can push on the PS3 that is far from enough, 20Mbps is good enough for any online game. It also could depend on the network that works with PS3 versus a computer.
Not exactly sure but either way I would just be happy with what you have, I know how it is always wanting perfection but in that case it is well enough, even not at max speed for online gaming.
Plus you'll never use max speed technically in online games anyway because it all depends how close you are to the servers you're playing on. You would probably have to live right next to a server to get max speed to be able to ever notice it in online gaming.

You'll never see the full benefit of your download speed in online games...... most games typically only download about 100MB per hour of online play.
The BIGGEST propent to have a very fast online multiplayer connection is your PING..... thats what matters most, not download speeds. I used to play online PERFECTLY FINE with nothing more than a 384kbps connection when I first starting living on my own.
But now that I have a live-in girlfriend who's job REQUIRES a fast internet connection, I now have 150down/50up.
