I had a problem with my ps3 320gb cech3001b where when i clicked the power button, it would go to the red stanby mode, then i would click it again and the fan would start up and the system would look like its working for about like 2-3 seconds then it would shut right back off. I hit it again and same results, could this be the problem with it? this thing with the motherboard?
I already tried switching the power supply and it wasnt that, so i'm guessing it is this thing, what do you guys think?
Edit: Is the paste supposed to look like that? dried up i mean.
alright, i'll try that guys, but i saw that someone said this helped them, is it a safe thing to do? sorry for the profanity in this quote:
"to solve this problem, you must do the mod of copper shims and use a good heat sink compound that has a temperature limit of about 320 degrees Celsius. search a video on youtube on how to do the mod of copper shims. I solved this problem with that. This is not a problem of the PSU!!."
"Models CECH-3001A and 3001B suffer the same, is a manufacturing defect, the heatsink is not fitted in the lid of the RSX and the Cell / BE. Copper shims compensates the hole needed for attaching the cell to rsx and aluminum heatsinks. the models 3001a & b are a big **bleep** **bleep**!!!!!!!!!!. the copper shim is the solution a this problem."
