What finally worked for me because I live in an manhattan was to use a program like: network stumbler , to see all the networks in your area and find a WIRELESS channel that no networks have ( for me it was channel 4) and then go to your router (mine was linksys, I used 192.168.0.1) and goto: Wireles -> basic wireless settings, and change the channel to the one you picked. Restart the router (unplug it, wait and plug it in again), restart your ps3, and see how fast your ps3 gets an ip address and connects to PS network.. gl
Way too many people were on Channel 8 so I got sooo much interference and it would time out everytime
If you are using wifi then check your router by accessing it's control panel. Make sure your router is not blocking any services. Go to 'Block Services' and disable it, then check your psn again. This worked instantly for me.
Get a wired connection if at all possible, otherwise, as NYC87MG advises, check for interference from other wireless channels and change the channel you are on if you've got a clear option.
Cordless phones that use 2.4GHz can interfere with wifi too. If the cordless uses DSS, then it will interfere with *all*channels*. If you live in an apartment then there simply is no certain solution other than going to a wired connection.
This is azz i've been trying to fix this problem for the last fkn hour. They need to write it on the website or something.. Thing is I was on 2 hours ago and have friends that say they're on but i guess that's because they never signed out. Jeez just made it to a level 18 on dcuo and this sht happens.. ugh, hope they get it fixed soon.
