opening text file from usb drive

5 replies 82 views Edited May 17, 2013

hey all,

is there a way to open text files stored on a usb flash drive from the PS3?

when i select the drive from the XMB menu nothing shows up.

i plugged the usb drive into my computer first, copied the text file to it, then plugged it into the PS3.

any ideas?

thanks!

You are unable to open text files on the PS3, it`s not a supported format.

Well, from what I remember the only way to do this is to convert your text file into a series of pictures like .jpeg files.

If you do this I would advise you to use a program to number them so that you don't get them all out of order.

ok, thanks.

the reason i'm asking is that i'm trying to set up acces to my wireless network which uses WPA2, and my authentication key is in a text file- and it's rather lenfthy- 63 ASCII characters.

i tried typing it in manually but that didn't work and i have no interest in trying to add it again this way, and i rather not modify the wireless key to make this process easier.

is there a way to copy and past the wireless key- that's my ultimate goal.

thanks again!

There is no way for you to copy the wireless key into the PS3, you have to type it out manually, although if it`s correct it will remember it so you don`t have to retype it each time you go on the PS3, but if your problem is typing using the PS3 on screen keyboard, then the only way you can make it easier is to use a keyboard.
