my ps3 got flooded. any chance to repair it?

My house got flooded because of heavy rain. Other things are fine except for my ps3. During the flood, I turned off the surge protector and I am sure that my ps3 didn't have electricity (else my tv will also die). So is there any chance for repairing it?

It's hard to tell, but for sure anything mechanical would be adversely affected.

The parts that would be affected is the BD Drive, Hard Drive and the Fan.

Best resort? Place it in a warm place for two weeks or more to evaporate all the water in it, cross your fingers and fire it up. Got skills in electronics? Take it apart then hang all the parts like clothes for two or more weeks.

I wouldn't have any hope though, that BD drive and Hard Drive won't like water much...

I think opening it is your best bet. You can dry it out then clean it up with alcohol and apply new thermal paste if you go so far as seperating the chips from the heat sinks..

theres a good chance that the system could still work other than the hdd is most likely shot but the main board and bd if taken apart and cleaned and dried and have the heatsinks repasted i would bet all those parts are still good as long as the power was down before water got in...i pulled a ps1 out of a dump hole on my farm that was there for years and i brought it to the house and hooked it up and it still worked and even read disks without a problem..

Absolutely do not let it sit and slowly dry for two weeks. The best way to deal with water damage on electronics is to dissamble, and dry with a hair dryer as soon as possible. If the PS3 begins to rust it's game over.
