Re: installing games on the ps3 hard drive?

I can download COD4 from the PSN store and have no physical disk.

However, I already own the physical disk.

Now that the downloadable copy is an option and you can re-download each game "x" amount of times, how about a physical for virtual trade in?

Send in your physical game to get a virtual download of same.

Perhaps a 10 game limit, extra for PS+ etc, etc

I could then have all of my most used games available without hammering my BluRay drive.

Just an idea.

Don't just accept that fate. Games should be able to be installed on the hard drive, not the whole game just music and commonly used textures etc... to reduce load times. Make it happen.

There are games that do that now. Gran Turismo 5 is just one of them. It installs over 8GB's onto the HDD exactly for the reasons you stated. If the dev wants to make it that way, they do.

You noob , the reason for installing in hdd is that your console wont heat up and fry, even your len will be safe so u ps3 will last longer coz once the len dies or it gets heat up , you're done ! no matter how many times you will fix ur PS it will still die after 2 months and then u will end up buying new one

Ya your drive wont be affected but all that heat from your drive will kill the graphic cards in ps3 coz in PC u can install heat sync all over but the ps3 once gone in gone
