i got PS+ on june 30th if i waited 1 more day and got it on july 1st would i have gotten an extra month?

I think the time would start from date of purchase, not the start of that month.

Correct, if you look at your subscription in your services list under Account Management you will see that your membership expires exactly 15 months from the date of purchase.

Also, content is rolled out throughout the month, so it's not really going to matter what date you subscribe on.  But even if something great comes out the day after your subscription ends you can always renew.

Like everyone said it goes by the numbers of days. So if you get one year that is 365 days.
