You have to have Window Media 11 and there really no need of extra cords sort of speak. All you have to do is have them both running on the same network, in your case a router.

From Windows Media do a search for compatible devices and it should pick up your PS3 and then you should be good to go..

lol, you do NOT need a wireless connection. Both your PS3 and you PC must be on the same network though. Either one can be wired or wireless. It makes no difference.
You can use tversity, windows media player 11, ps3mediaserver, any type of DLNA compliant media server.
