getting my ps3 hooked up to internet when i get it

i dont have it yet but when i get it do i need to do anything diffrent? I have my ps2 hooked up to my linksy router and ive been playing online forever. when i get it do i just have to put in the ethernet cord and i am all set or is there more to it?

That's all I did, took the cord out of the PS2 and plugged it into the PS3 and was online.

so i dont have to set up any netwrk settings or anything. Its all set since i allready have a cord and router?

ive never done anything online for any system
 
so what ur saying is when i get my ps3 i have to hook it up to my router to use the internet?
 
cuzz i have my router upstairs by the computors and i have all my video games in the basement.
 
can u clarify what has to b done
 
again ive never dont any system online (EX. ps2 online ///// xbox live)

i am not sure what to do in your case but for me my router was in my comp room and my room was about 40 ft away. I bought a 50ft ethernet cord and plugged it into my router and sent it throught the wall into my room. You might have to do the same if its possible.
