if you want a good site go to wii hacks they have got a ps3 section and a good crew there. any problems i have i go there some one will tell you how to get it working. i got a semi bricked wii of ebay years ago 20min later they had it working

Sorry but if you didnt back up your data you can just consider it gone now. As far as it not being fixable my guess would be one of two things the guy you delt with dont know how to fix it, or the parts needed are no longer avaliable anymore. I would call Sony tech support and see if they can fix it. Also alot of times on work like this it can be cheaper to use Sony rather then a second party. If you cant or dont want to mess with Sony then you could try a Gamestop some of them have repair services. This could come down to it can be fixed but cost of repair may be higher then the cost of a new system so they may have just told you it cant be done. Good luck hope you can get your game on soon, but always remember when working with any type of computer always back up anything you dont want to lose.
