thank you very much for the posts on this topic. i had an old 40gb ps3 that the laser died on and i wanted to get everything onto my new slim 120gb. i was getting the message that there was no ethernet cable attached and for the life of me could not figure out what was going. i must have messed around with the network settings for 2-3 hours before finding your helpful blogs.
thanks guys! (only at 5% right now so i guess i probably jinxed myself pretty good if this doesnt work)
I agree that it's crucial to disable Internet connection and Media Server connection on both machines.
I couldn't activate destination PS3 until after transfer was complete, but apart from that I followed the same steps as you guys. Thanks again!
3944 Views for this thread now and that's for a reason - after an hour of trying to get the ethernet cable to be recognised and reading every 'official' playstation instruction manual (online and hard copy) I finally find this thread.
eloscurosecreto thank you so much for your posts and a solution to a problem that's obviously been an issue for many Playstation3 users - you'd think Sony would have updated their online manual by now to include your edit
- Disable the Internet Connection on both systems.
Select (Settings) > (Network Settings) > (Internet Connection)
- Disable the Media Server Connection on both systems.
Select (Settings) > (Network Settings) > (Media Server Connection)
Thanks again though - finally working and currently 33% complete
I think you may be right. The PS3 may be recognizing the wireless connection, and ignoring the ethernet connection. I kept getting that error, but after disabling the internet and media connections it worked just fine!
how could i activate the PS3™ destination system ?
do i need to create a new user, then a new account ? cuz i wont be able to access " Account Management " without creating an account.
please help !
