What should be expanded on that is, there are currently no known viruses for the PS3's OS. But don't think you're in the clear. Mac users went about thinking they couldn't get a virus either because of the same thing but fast forward to today.
So if the PS3 really takes off as a conventional web browser then you can expect some goodies to infect it. But that's not likely considering anyone who has a PS3 also has a faster computer and I really don't see the point in even using it.

let me add more. on YOUR Ps3 there isnt a known virus and there won't be for a while. but for people with the Linux OP systems there can be.

If there are no viruses that can get on your ps3, then why is Trend Micro offered ?
Read further into what trend micro actually offers. WHat trend micro offeres for the PS3 does not include antivirus or firewall security. What they actually offer for the PS3 is like a net nanny preventing your kids from getting ilicit content.
However I agree that viruses could eventually be a possibility, but the main reason it is unlikely to happen is induviduals capable of making such viruses would not waste their time on a ps3. They would want to pick a platform easier to gain what ever it is they desire.. money, identities, infromation..etc.
Like with the mac what helped kleep them safe was that few had the system, so why make a virus or hack something that has a small user base? Since they have become more popular in the media and public virus makers have taken another look at the mac system.

I wandered the same thing. I have found that if you go through the browser menu and go to tools, you can delete cookies and the system cache. Now I am not completely sure that if there is a virus on the system if doing so will clear it, but I can say that I have had issues while surfing, that made me stop and think; what if? Clearing out the cookies and cache seems to reverse whatever the issue is.

Hackers these days prob know the PS3 can't get infected but you should still be careful as they may have found a way by now. I'm pretty sure it's impossible for the PS3 to get infected tho.
