I'm sure it's a console ban and not a user account ban.

What are the chances of someone buying a used PS3 and using the exact same user name as the previous owner?

I could be wrong, but that's my 2 cents.

tried to make another account. that isnt working. this doesnt seem fair. while i understand the reason for banning users there is no way to know if a used console is already banned. should be a way to fix this problem

They banned the Mac address which means it doesnt matter what user id is used.

Better yet, what are the chances it's a banned user just saying they "bought a used PS3"...

Maybe Gamestop and these other places need to check/Test that before selling a used machine. I would be srsly ticked off.

Well where did the OP buy them from? If he can prove he bought it with some sort of reciept he should be able to get unbanned.

i wish i bought it from gamestop. would go get my money back. bought this one from craigslist. as is to bad for me teck supports says..... sony is not only selling a game console they are also selling a service with it. playstation network is why  most people buy ps3. and im not a banned user claiming to have bought a banned console but can see why people think that
