Ok, so I finally got a game I love on PS4. Yea, I got the FEZ on + and am loving this game. If you haven't played it yet, try it out. It's a great puzzle game, and it makes you think a little while getting through the mazes.
Here's the thing: What strategy do you use in your games to complete them?
For example: There is a 100% completion video on the net for FEZ, and were a person wanting to see all the secrets that would be the way to go.
Do you use strategies (videos, guides, etc) to beat the game first, or do you try to beat it on your own first?

I try to beat the game on my own. if i get stuck on a section for an hour or so and it requires some puzzles. i usually go and watch a video. but if its a something thats straight forward. i do it on my own.
Using strategy guides/walkthroughs is not something I prefer doing whilst playing through a game. The only time I'll ever resort to one is when there's a problem in the way I have a difficult time resolving. Even turning to a strategy sometimes leaves me without an exact answer. Sometimes the problem is that you're just not quick enough or you were unaware that there's a different method.
I do it on my own. If I get stuck after trying several times to get past a point I will go to a guide for pointers. Going to a guide first ruins the game for me. I don't want to know whats going to happen before it happens.
If i only like the game but its long and I could lose interest in it (ff 12) I will use a guide from the get go.
If I'm interested in the story but don't enjoy the game mechanics or its an xbox exclusive i will "let's play" it on youtube.
If I don’t have the time or patience for collectibles then I might use a guide for them. That is about it.
