With the impending release of the PS4 may we finally be able to change our PSN Id's?

16 replies 241 views Edited Jun 8, 2013

I'm sure plenty of people have been asking this for years. People such as myself would probably be willing to pay for the name change like over on XBL.  I would really like to change mine without losing what's in my PSN wallet and my trophies and I'm hope I'm not alone in that regard.

That would be nice. But they're may be people out there who'd abuse it in order to try and evade the system.

Is XBL abused by this feature?

On XBL you have to pay to change your gamertag. And I was fine with it there. And your gamer Rep follows you.

LOL how? Your PSN,Steam,XBL, ell even you as a person is just a number to be cataloged. The name is not too special as the system is numerical.

Even if they did give us the option to do so, I'll still keep my ID. I can't see myself with any other name.

If you had to pay for it on PSN then you'd be saying "but... it should be free!". And as I've said before, how many people wouldn't be changing their names to something like Doctor Who or Major Tom, and instead changing it to whatever was popular at the moment.

If you're only allowed one name it forces you put some thought into then you're more likely to choose well. They give you ample warning, if you don't choose well it's not up to Sony to correct your mistake.
