Why will my ps3 play downloaded games easily but not disk based games?

Recently i thought i needed a new hard drive for my ps3. But now i dont think so..... My ps3 will play downloaded games fine, for example "Pure", but when i play a disk based game it doesnt go its normal speed. If anyone has had this same problem please tell me how to fix it.

I mean disk based games go slow. And even in my killzone 3 game it makes a stutter noise. If you know how to fix this plz tell me. Im getting kind of annoyed with it. lol

You can try a Blu-ray cleaning disc. If that doesn't work the drive is probably going bad. If under warranty send it in. If not you can replace it yourself. Get one that matches your model number off eBay. They're relatively easy to replace. You can still send it to Sony if it's out of warranty and you don't want to do it yourself.
