I just bought my cousin's PS3 40 gig. He's never had a problem with it before.  I only have MW2 right now and some of the game sounds don't load, usually this means it will freeze at the end of the round when it gets to game summary.

When I first got the system it was fine til after the update. I am very new to the PS3, so not sure what's the deal here, very annoying though. The console does play Blu ray movies fine and downloaded game demos. I did do the vacuum as others mentioned and still no luck. My MW2 disc is scratch free aswell. 

Back to playing Halo 3...........

Same problem with me. It's not cool. I'm playing a downloaded game with no sound now, because the system won't see the disk (what happens after the freezing problem).

not everyone has playstation plus or an extra hard drive to back up files u idiot. what do i do in the meantime

I've noticed since Netflix and about 24/7 use yeAh it freezes and dies like anything else .

same here whenever i try playing skate 3 or GTA Iv on disc it keeps freezing but the demo/ and downloaded version of gta/skate 3 work fineand it only started after i bought and started playing bo2
