I would like to buy my first PS3
(yeah shoot me I'm late)...
BUT it has to be backwards compatible with my Final Fantasy games for PS1.
I have been looking for an old 60go in eBay, but they are likely to have YLOD.
According to you, which is the best PS3 model to buy so that I can play my Final Fantasy 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9 on a PS3 ?
Final Fantasy 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9 are all PS1 games, and all PS3s are backwards compatible with PS1 games. So I don't think it matters which PS3 you get. It's all good.

I should then buy a brand new slim model to have the least chances to get YLOD, right ?
Instead of buying a refurnished 60go just for FFX and FF12 since they have the highest chances to get YLOD.
Sometimes they even opened it to put thermal paste to prevent YLOD, but I might still end up with getting a YLOD.
This is how I see it now:
Too much PROs and few CONS for a brand new model
for too few PROs and too much CONs for a 60go model refurnished
Buy the newest model, for it is the best one in the community! The gods of Sony graced us with the glossy beast, but the PS3 evolves with the times! The old will possibly die on you because its glory was so great for its glossy plastic. Buy the new one!
A HD FFX! I wasn't aware of that, that's **bleep** good new to start off the week!
I will then buy a brand new one, I'll also be sure it is not jailbreak / cfw or whatsoever this way.
I kind of think the ultra slim models are hugly in th hugly... I will try to find a regular slim.
Among the slim models, which is the least prone to YLOD ?
It might be best staying away from the super slim models, as that particular model is a top-loading version instead of sucking discs in like all the other ones. Since all PlayStation 3 models accept PlayStation discs, you can go for any one you want. Though, if you're looking for a sizeable hard drive for your PlayStation 3, getting the 320 GB version is probably the one to get. You can't say your PlayStation 3 will never get the Yellow Light of Death, but it seems that Slims are more reliable than the older models in that regard. I know I've never had a case with my own 120 GB unit.
My favorite thing about the super slims is the top loading discs.
No more stuck discs, ever!!!
I actually have a PS3 at home right now which will not play discs anymore for some reason, makes lots of weird noises when I put a disc in there.
I think my kids may have put some quetips in there!!!! No way to see in there without opening the console and its still on warrenty so cant open it!!!
If I take it for repair and something stuck inside they probably charge me for the repair!!!!
I wish I had a top loading PS3 as I have had several instances of disc stuckery.
Finally, the structure of my question is that you would have to disprove every possible outcome to be correct and I would just have to have one that would likely be beneficial. That's statistically in my favor by quite a bit.
