What to do with my non-fixable 60 gb ps3? (YLOD)

2 replies 171 views Edited Mar 29, 2012

I sent my cecha01 model ps3 to Gophermods to get fixed but apparently it was one of the 5-10% of ps3's they can't fix because the RSX chip is dead.
I recently bought the 160gb slim to replace it.
Anyways, these are my three ideas of what I should do with it.
1. Sell my ylod ps3 console on ebay as-is/for parts.
2. Part it out myself and sell the individual parts on ebay (Power supply, blu ray drive, fan, etc.. The problem with that plan is I don't know if they are guaranteed to work)
3. See if Sony can give me anything for it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Scratch number 3 off of your list.

Endless Electronics gives a flat $50 for your broken PS3. You might also want to see if they can fix it, they told me they are able to fix some PS3s that Gophermods can't.

Selling the component parts would probably net you more than $50, but it does require a lot of work on your part..
