I was playing Uncharted and during a big action sequence it froze.  First time since I have had it, which is only a week or so as I got it for X-mas.  Regardless, I really didn't know what I should do.  The controller was not responding, so I just shut off the machine from the front.  Then restarted it and all seem to be working well other than the fact that I had to resync my controller.  I have been playing it for 2-3 hrs nonstop.  Should I give it a break or continue on?  Oh, and before ANYONE asks the system is in the complete open with airflow all around it.  No cabinet here.  Its actually on my glass tv stand.

I personally don't think you'll need a break. Sometimes mine freezes up but then after I restart it, it works fine the rest of the day.

You should not have a problem, but if that ever happens again, just make sure you do not turn the PS3 off from the back. That is how you brick your system.

Ok, thanks for the heads up guys.  I was shocked more than anything.  Glad I now know what I need to do.

seriously? maybe thats how I messed up my harddrive

You should Buy a Fan for it..so it doesn't heat up so quickly.Some Times if the System gets to over-heated it freezes.I know cuz thats happened to me.

Just keep your finger on the power sensor located on the front panal of the system...for a extended period of time(5-10 seconds?) that should put it in standby even if the image/output is frozen.
