Re: What's the final word on PS4 backwards compatibility?

Oct 27, 2013

How many times does this question have to be asked? They said at the press event back in Feburary that they hope to have the entire Playstation library on Gailkai at some point.

I really hope that Gaikai is going to be a free service

I don't think it will be, which is unfortuante, but it seems like a really good service.

I am already well of Sony's plans regarding Gaikai. What I was talking about was being able to play PS2 and/or PS1 discs on a PS4 which Sony did not address yet.

Gaikai is the answer dude...for everything, PS1,PS2, and PS3. Its all going to be cloud based. There will not be any BC on the console itself. Those days are over.

There's simply no way Gaikai will be free.... Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't complain if it was, but things cost money, and money runs things. That is the way the world works.

However, I can't imagine it will be noticeably more expensive than any other comparable service.

Well considering not even PS1 or PS2 classics will work: https://twitter.com/yosp/status/387263056839200768

I doubt they'd allow discs.

They're streaming games from previous PlayStation consoles to the Gaikai service. That's all, nothing more.
