What kind of tablet support will the PS4 have from a non-gaming viewpoint?

7 replies 650 views Edited Jun 20, 2013

As a person who uses Smartglass on my tablet to control media on my Xbox, such as music and videos and pictures, etc., if I decide to switch to PS4, will these features be lost or will the PS4 offer something similar?  are there any sources regarding this?

Tablets? lol, there is a reason Sony is still trying to get everyone to buy a Vita

PS. You should get a Vita

Actually, there are iOS and Android apps in the works for accessing the PSN for messaging and such.  I imagine there will also be support for controlling aspects of the PS4 (probably as long as you are connected to the same network as your PS4).

It is confirmed that Tablets will be used in a gaming aspect (Source: The Divison Trailer) but as in Music and Videos, no sure answer has been released, but if Sony are using these devices for a second companion, I am sure they will implement the "Music and Video" part to it

Europe has the iOS apps already. I bet the reason they never brought them to the US was to wait for the PS4. I only say that as  xchat and a few others features are finding their way into the PS4 that were asked to be brough to the PS3.

OP, don't get a Vita. I'm sure they will work in tablet controls, I know I saw a video where they showed somebody using a Sony tablet to control some function.

You shouldnt just not get a vita. It has great games to choose from, and amazing applications for mobile experiance.

Let's not forget the touchpad on the DS4 that I am sure will also emulate some of that functionality for those that have neither.
