Not really, I agree with the gun one, but simple; It's a little thing called, "Self-Protection". Some kid killed a guy with a machete when his house was being robbed, and if I recall that story correctly, then he was about my age too. Age has nothing too do with Self-Protection. A 12-year-old protected her house from robbers with a freaking gun. I agree that I would most-likely have too go to Court, but; I'm hoping that nothing like this will happen.

them stories are different, the laws are very different when protecting private property verses being in public..

a minor does NOT have the ability to make the correct decisions, not saying they all don't but as far as the law goes that is how it works.

Ok, so let's say that; I have a kid and some dude is trying too kidnap this kid... I just let it go? I can't protect the kid? If I protect the kid with a knife, I go to Jail?

Doesn't seem right, now does it?

P.S.

Self Protection is well, Self-Protection.
Even though the example that I showed you just now isn't necessarily considered, "Self-Protection" It's still considered Defensive Actions, in which this case, It would be Legal.

I knew a kid who carried a knife for protection. When he pulled it out 'to protect himself', someone who didn't know what was going on walked up behind him and one punch KO'd the kid. He bashed his skull off the pavement and someone else came and kicked him in the eye.

You probably don't want to lose an eye and suffer brain damage...

Instead of jumping in and trying to be a hero. You should call the police. Yes, it might seem better to just stab the guy and save the kid, but in reality you just murdered somebody.

the laws can be a little fuzzy sometimes and differs from state to state and even city to city in the same state and many cases like this are looked at independently and one could walk away while another one doing the same thing goes to prison making beds.

Murdered somebody... Who stole a kid...
He could have murdered the kid.

Yes, why don't we role-play? Smiley Happy

No, I would not like to role-play... Smiley Indifferent

How do you know he would have murdered the kid? You don't.

Best thing to do is call the cops. Also, a 16 year old with a 7inch knife would be really suspicious.
