Re: We need a PS4-R (One console that plays every PlayStation disc ever made).

I own a Pro and cant wait to buy a Scorpio just for the upgrade over my Xbox One S.

That said with the Scorpio and Pro sitting side by side running the same game I would be willing to bet the average person will see very little differences in picture quality.

PSN : Twinkeeze

Xbox 1 : HeisenbergFX4

That would be a sweet console, great idea OP. Not sure why some people have to throw tantrums...

It's not only a great idea, it's also original, as I can't remember ever seeing a single thread about backwards compatibility here. Kudos for everyone!

You'd be best asking for a PS4 that can play PS2 and PS1 games.

PS3 is still going to be too costly right now.

A console to rule them all, it's all we need.

@Blastfurnace2k

Your post isn't original either, I've seen hundreds of posts of people whining already when someone else asks for backwards compatibility.

@Evan297 Who was whining? I also said it WAS original. You're so used to playing devil's advocate for literally EVERY first son whiner ever, that you're starting to read words opposite.

Yeah because I'm sure that wasn't at all sarcasm...just like this post isn't.

Why do people get rid of their ps3 or ps2? And if you don't have it anymore why do you still have the games for it?

I still have mine but I'll admit it would be much easier to use just one console for everything.

While I would love to see something like this, I also know that it won't happen. The costs involved just aren't worth it to Sony. Although, having said that, I still have my original 60GB PS3 that I've held onto for this very purpose. Should it burn out, I don't know what I would do to replace it. If Sony were to ever release another product like it, I was surely jump on it.

More likely I expect PS1 titles to start coming to PS4 in a digital download format like the handful of PS2 titles. There's really no reason that the PS4 can't emulate PS1 games when everything else out there can. It would be great if it could support disc-based PS1 and PS2 games as well, but that's also unlikely because then Sony has no monetary incentive to develop a PS1 emulator for PS4.

More than likely we would need to repurchase our games digitally instead of using the original discs. I'm willing to do that with PS1 games on my Vita because I can take them with me. I'm less likely to do that if there's no other incentive for me. Just like how Sony isn't going to spend the money to make it work if they aren't going to make a significant amount more money than they invest into it.

PS1 discs were CD based, the PS4 lacks the correct laser to read CD format. So best you could hope for would be PS2 games that were on DVDs.

I'd like it too, I am just unstanding of the not going ot happen.
