speed is not relevant..... there is no perceptible difference between drive speeds. a 7200rpm costs about $20 more

friendly advice. get a new 500gb hard drive for the ps3 you have now as others have mentioned above. Do yourself a favor and get an external enclosure for your original hard drive & use that to restore your game saves rather than relying on the unreliable cloud. sure you may get your game saves back from the cloud, but you won't get a lot of them the same way that you uploaded them. Many get mashed together into 1 or 2 saves per game which can make a second or third replay progress or other ways of playing the game obsolete like it did to me.
you can get a new 500 g drive on amazon.com. Got seagate 2.5" sata notebook drive for $62 & free shipping. download the latest firmware from the PlayStation website onto a flash drive. Got drive enclosure for my orig drive from meritline.com for $11.99 (anti shock) free ship. Ck out sony ps3 site for directions on hdd swap & getting into safemode once swapped to install firmware & then hook up enclosure w/ orig drive & put saves back on. Its easy once u have correct directions. Good luck. Done for less than $75.

How is it unreliable? I am able to seamlessly upload and download all of my saves perfectly with ZERO ISSUES. And I have about 45 save files, some are different playthroughs of the same game and still none of this "mashed together" that you mentioned.
