Re: Wait for PS4 or buy the PS3 Now?

Mar 16, 2013

Getting the PS3 later after I have the PS4 would be a good option to. I even have a feeling that I could just borrow it, or buy it for cheap off of a friend at that point, which would be good.

Re: Wait for PS4 or buy the PS3 Now?

Get a PS3 now and start enjoying the games that are out and the ones that are coming.  If everybody remembers, the PS3 when it first came out had alot of issues that have since been worked out.  No doubt that the PS4 will have similar issues.  I would wait until the PS4 establishes itself before spend the money to get one.  Me personally, i am going to wait at least a year after the PS4 is out before getting one because of the issues the PS3 had at launch.  oh, the scuttlebutt going around is that the PS4 is only going to be alittle faster and have 3D capabilities.

When I retire, I want to buy a boat and live off the land.

I don't regret my purchase on my OG 60gb PS3, oh and I had 1 Hardware failure. That was 2009, paid the $150 fee to Sony and my unit has had No issues. Not sure what all the bugs and issues are about but I never had any but the 1 hardware failure. Got my system in 2007. These things happen and me and my friends played almost 24 hours a day. No lie, while I worked someone was playing my system. I rather be other 1st to experience the new updates and added features instead of jumping on board late. Just my look at these things, no offense to anyone Smiley Happy

I bought my first PS3 at launch, it was an original 60GB. I had no problems with it for about 5 years, then it died, and I bought a slim. The only issue I had with it was that eventhough I bought pretty much every launch game, the best game on my system for the first year or so was God of War 2 which was a PS2 game, other than that, the thing ran like a champ.

Do it. There are so many great gaming experiences to be had on the PS3, and not just in the retail game sphere. Downloadable titles from last year like Closure, Dyad, Sound Shapes, Papo Y Yo, Rainbow Moon, The Walking Dead, The Unfinished Swan, and Journey are reason enough to buy this system. Backwards compatibility isn't guaranteed for PS4, and even if it's possible over Gaikai, having these games available now is totally worth it. Smiley Happy

The ps3 has some great exclusives that you are not going to be able to play if you go straight to the ps4 so ask yourself if you want to try them.  If you go straight to the ps4 I seriously doubt you will ever get a ps3 to play older games.  One last thing with the ps3 you face lower game prices if you just want to try out the exclusives as they are older and the prices have dropped which is something you won't have with the ps4 early on.

If I didn't have PS3, I would definitely get one as there are a number of exclusives: Uncharted, God of War, Killzone, Infamous, LBP, Heavy Rain, etc that can only be played on PS3. With a PS4, you'll probably won't even care about the PS3. Also with the PS3, game prices would be cheap compared to the Ps4.

You can play for fun, or for world domination. A casual ps3 experience will not disappoint. It took me years to buy a ps3 xbox because I dont buy into internet hype. I buy into fun. Is the ps4 fun? Dont know, but I know that ps3 is a symbol of when the industry was becoming most interesting, so you would just be another consumer supporting that fact.
