Am sure a lot of you noticed that the PS4 contrast and color saturation seem rather washed out compared to XboxOne( This is very evident in any comparison videos of side by side footage). Both sets being calibrated the culprit had to be the source. So after a little video setting adjustment I found out why, seems that the PS4 HDMI RGB RANGE out put is set to AUTO by default which really means LIMITED.
Here is how to fix it ;
In PS4 MENU,
-Then SOUND AND SCREEN
-Finally VIDEO OUTPUT SETTINGS
--Change RBG RANGE from AUTOMATIC to FULL
Once the screen refreshes you should notice an immediate change in color saturation and contrast!"
I did this and can see a huge difference. Spread the word!
Only set it to full if your tv supports it or
You are using a monitor. If it does not support it or your tv is not calibrated correctly you may see better colors but youll soon notice the dark scenes or so dark they become unplayable. Blacks seem to wash together.
There are simple ways to see if your tv supports it or if you are set up for it. One is a calibration disk, two is check the manual.
Be careful with this setting. Its very tricky and you will lose detail you dont even know is there. Personally i dont like it on full. It does make the colors deeper and pop a little more
But i cant stand that darkness it puts everywhere.
