Upgrading the Hard Drive for Playstation 3?

4 replies 261 views Edited Oct 2, 2012

I have the 2nd edition PS3 (Not the latest slim one), and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade my Hard Drive space if I bought another one?

My PS3 seems to run out of space a bit quickly and I dont even have that many games downloaded on my system

If so, how do I do so, and which HD's do you recommend?

Thanks!

Just follow these instructions to upgrade your hard drive:

If you don't want to re-download all your games and content, you will have to use an external hard drive to back up all your data to first, using the backup utility.

I suggest the Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB. (WD7500BPKT)

Not only does it have massive storage for a cheap price ($95 where I got it, at a mere $0.12 per GB), it has increased my loading speed of most games.

Skyrim is no longer a quick snooze when it loads, ares now load in less than 30 seconds on the most part and texture pop-in has been reduced drastically. Framerate is mostly steady 30FPS.

Very happy with it.
