Update Options

4 replies 4 views Edited Dec 16, 2006
I bought the PS3 for my kids for Christmas. I'm reading that I 'll need to download an update to the firmware. Is that correct? If I don't have a wireless router can I save the update to the PC and then transfer via USB drive to PS3?

Thx,

You don't have to update, but to get the patches and more features you will need the update. You can save it to a memory stick and update by usb. This is the method that I use.

Just so you know the memory stick needs to have a folder named PS3, inside this folder you need a folder with title UPDATE. In the second folder is where the update should be stored. If you don't do it like this the ps3 will not update.
