Ubisoft on AC III - Liberation. Pleased.

13 replies 236 views Edited Feb 7, 2013

Almost sold 600,000 units.  Not bad when considering the amount of Vita's sold worldwide.

Ubisoft pleased with ACIII Vita performance, “wouldn’t discount” the system

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation has performed well for Ubisoft, the publisher said during a financial results call today.

Ubisoft confirmed that Liberation is “close to the 600,000 units” mark, and is viewed as “a good achievement.”

The company isn’t discounting the PlayStation Vita just yet. Ubisoft feels that launching “the right product” with “the right quality” can lead to success.

“We did pretty well on Assassin’s Creed PS Vita. We are close to the 600,000 units, so it’s a good achievement. We’re pretty happy with this figure. So I wouldn’t discount the PS Vita. If you have the right product, the right quality, it might work.”

The game could've sold like crap and they should still be pleased. It's the first true open world game on the PSV. GR is open world too but considerably more limited than ACIII is; even with bugs in the middle and whatnot, ACIII is quite a feat on a handheld~.

600k is quite a number for a userbase this small.

Sequel in the future? :smileyvery-happy:

Well i hope more western devs supporting the Vita in the future,so many overlook handhelds as a viable platform :/

This was another article from the same website back in November. So, most likely there will be another one.  Maybe not with Aveline since today there was an announcement on IGN that the next AC will be a new timeline and character.  Supposed release time is April 2014.

Ubisoft talks Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation sales, hints at more to come for Aveline

November 12th, 2012 Posted in News, Vita

Of course Ubisoft isn’t just selling one Assassin’s Creed game on release day, it is selling two, with Assassin’s Creed: Liberation on PlayStation Vita released simultaneously.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation was an interesting experiment for Ubisoft. Liberation, in some ways, was just like a console experience, but it came out on a handheld instead – the PlayStation Vita.

Thus far, Ubisoft seems relatively pleased with Liberation’s performance. Chief sales and marketing officer Geoffroy Sardin has said that the company is “super happy with the first results we have got on the Vita, it is the biggest launch for week one for 2012, and it’s the first Vita product for this end of the year.”

Sardin also hinted that main character Aveline could appear again in the future:

“It’s the first time we’ve proposed another experience on another format, but there are some links between both of the games. The consumers are aware that Aveline, the main character on the Vita format, could have a future in our history for the Assassin’s Creed brand, and the second thing is we wanted to bring a new experience using the features of the Vita. For now we are super happy with the first results we have got on the Vita, it is the biggest launch for week one for 2012, and it’s the first Vita product for this end of the year.”

Sardin also said the tactic “could give some ideas for another franchise, for sure.“

I am still not finished with the game, almost there, but it is very long considering it is a portable game. Glad to see that it sold well, I can see an improved sequel in the next few years.

I'd love to have them port Rayman Legends to the Vita, considering that it lost exclusivity and now they are bringing it to the PS3 as well.

Yes! or utilize the cross-controller functionality.  that would be perfect.

Glad too see if a quality game is put out that people buy it. Take notice Activision and your half-assed CoD game.
