Excerpt: "That’s not to say that Ubisoft isn’t willing to explore different business models. The company is keeping a watchful eye on EA’s new Access program on Xbox One, and Guillemot sees benefits beyond the revenue."
I can see this getting ugly, really quick if all the big publishers try and get us to buy into seperate services for their games.
Now I have no problem paying for services like Plus, Xbox Live and maybe even PS Now if they can get their pricing in order. But how many subscriptions do we really need and how long before these companies start locking critical content behind these services?
Gaming is already starting to feel like the game tent at a carnival with season passes that don't give you all the content, VIP passes, server priority locked behind subscriptions, etc , etc , etc. Why can't we just be able to buy our games and pay a fair price for expansions without feeling pressured or getting scammed?

PS Now pricing has gotten MUCH better than before, and is actually compensatable. EA Access is a load of bull that their trying to give us just so they can milk as much as money from their old games. If Ubisoft takes the same path, than many more will probably consider. "You either die a good company, or live long enough and turn to EA".
Medz Ubisoft went the EA path since 2009. Activison did too. the only big publishers that didn't go EA. Bethesda and Rockstar. which are owned by Zenimax/take two
I do not mind these services as long as they dont tie current in game content to them. A discount on the current games is fine, but not add ons that you would need to subscribe. They are all optional and if you feel it adds value to your gaming experience, then buy it, if not do not buy it, it really is that simple. Hopefully Sony gets smart and allows full options to thier customers.
