I am a complete noob...

Here is my situation. I lost my ps3 controller and am looking for the cheapest alternative.

All I need is something that turns the ps3 on and off. I just want to watch netflix.

I don't play video games anymore- thank you!

I think that's meant for PC's only, as kythunder said your only real option is another controller, be it the official Sony DS3 or a cheaper alternative.

I'd recommend this remote, but you'll still need to find your original controller to navigate the XMB to pair it with your PS3.

As a matter of fact, you'll pretty much need a DS3 to do anything, since all third party controllers are USB, and therefore cannot power on the PS3 (you can still use the button on front to do that, though).  Right now, the DS3 controller is $40 on Amazon.
