The 16gb version will/could be priced as low as $150. You have to remember that the smaller chassis, more power efficient PSU, cheaper components, top loading drive, ever decreasing BR costs, and a die shrink that would lead to a cheaper cooling system saves them quite a bit. Take out the cost of a hard drive and it is entirely feasible.

It's an attempt to counter their competitor's "arcade" entry-level model which currently sits at around $200. It would put the pressure on them to do some adjusting of their own but it ultimately leaves them without the price advantage...finally.

I think a $150 price point on the 16GB is more likely, especially since Microsoft is rumored to do a price cut on the X360 this year...

I am surprised that Sony is sticking with the curved design on the top of the console...

I think 16GB is a typo for 160GB. There will be a 160GB, 250GB, and 500GB version.

The letter from Sony to ANATEL states that the motherboards from all 3 models are the same.

The price between a 16GB SSD and 160GB hard drive is about the same according to Google.

It could be that every 4000 model has 16GB of flash storage, because it would be cheaper to integrate the flash memory on the motherboard than to provide a separate SSD in the hard drive slot.

We will see what happens, but I am sure that the low end model will be price competitve with the 4GB X360....

Looks like they're only going to offer these new consoles in black still, you would think that by now they would at least offer one other color scheme? At least the PS2 slim got black or silver and I think even white for a little while. I mean it's been SIX years now.

I also agree that the 16 gigs of flash storage is on all the skus, it's probably just disabled on the hdd models I would guess.

Looks ugly as heck. It's nice that it's cheaper seeing how my Fat MGS4 80 Gig PS3 won't last forever and I can replace it without paying too much. Other then that i'm not interested in this ugly and cheap piece of machinery in the slightest.  It's even fuglier than the first PS3 Slim if that were even possible.

It's not about fashion so much as function. It may not be easy on the eyes but it will be a heck of alot more reliable than the fats and even more than the current slim, and uses alot less power. After my OG 40gb had a psu failure, wifi board failure, and then finally the BR drive quit the only thing left was YLOD so I junked it, I got tired of buying parts and constantly fixing the jalopie. I'll be snatching up the 16gb model and doing my own upgrade but it doesn't really bother me if it looks ugly as sin, most consoles do.

My fat 80 Gig PS3 Has given me over 4 years of reliable service so far and shows no signs of breaking down at all. You just got unlucky with your fat PS3.
