I get added to the YLOD list. Yay! Sony tech support is full of morons. I know. I worked in the same office as some of them. I have an old 60 gig I paid $600 for when they were new. I'm impatient. It's had ongoing issues ever since I've had it. Usually solved by giving the console a long break from being turned on (which isn't cool anyways that I had to play at my console's leisure instead of mine) recently couldn't get the file system to restore. Obvious hard drive issues. I decided to go 3rd party repair and upgraded to 320gig so I could keep my backwards compatability. Also replaced blue ray lens since it hadn't played discs in years (thanx sony). Was happier than ever until after a few weeks it shuts off in the middle of gameplay giving me the flashing red light again. Awesome. Noticeable now is the infamous yellow light for a second, and the console won't power on completely now. Get to pay more now to repair it again from what seems is a fault in the motherboard. So now I'm basically rebuilding my console with no help from Sony, and I bet it will run better and last longer. Just sucks that they don't seem to care about those of us who actually paid more than others. Should take care of us!
It gat me after 2 and a half years. 40gb fat ps3. I am still not real pleased with not being able to replace it with another backward compatible model. They replaced it under the warrenty but sony is still on my crap list for not being able to replace it with the same thing.
