My old 80GB PS3 was purchased 10/08 and died 10/10; it was reflowed and died again 1/11. I replaced it wirh a slim, but this type of hardware flaw is inexcusable. If my slim dies I'm done with the PS3, even though I love it.

Everybody should report this to the BBB which is linked on the OP.
Microsoft fixed their RROD problem which was a solder joint heat issue....what makes Sony think they shouldn't have to?

So Sony responded to my BBB posting today by offering me a free 1st party game if i agree to send my unit in to be fixed for $130. So this is a option if you guys want to pursue it. I just refuse to pay a dime for something that I think should be free.
Everybody needs to report their system breaking down to the BBB.
This is no different than Microsoft's RROD problem. The SONY rep says it is a small number of people affected with the issue and went on to tell me about how he has 3 systems and they are all the fat version yada yada bs bs.
So the thousands of us mean nothing to them apparently.
