@PSP 3000 screen: I value a more uniform screen than pixel densities and over saturation.. My PSP 3000 have scan lines and some light bleed but IMO
LCD/LED Light bleed and dead pixels > V. Lines and Black Spots.
I'll be forming and backing up my thoughts later but I already feel too compulsive to reply.
I am very sure it is not the screen protector as I've already experienced some of the bad ones (even glitter effect across the display where the screen is and orange peel effect [from wet application])
Plus, after reading forty plus pages of the issue from XDA forums and PSVitaforum, posting 4 different threads on game sites, it seems to be pretty common.. It's a panel lottery.
(Samsung Galaxy cases and VITA cases)
60% of me feels that it isn't worth the hassle of returning the package and getting another screen with vertical lines or even worse black streaks/spots.. I easily get frustrated and.. IDK.
PS. I know the %-age of vitas that have v. lines can be really hard to know because there's this major factor to consider:
Indivindual visual acuity.
I would feel guilty to force/convince people online to do several tests. It's very sad that a few images shown to me isn't enough
Sorry, I am not attacking you.. I am merely trying to vent out Please forgive me. I am pretty stubborn.
I truly appreciate any feedback though. It makes me feel better for people just replying and stuff.
this is not normal, you should be returning it.
its possible a "bad batch" of screens made it out there somehow. i have both a launch unit and the white bundle unit and they show nothng like this
Yeah I still am thinking abt it.
If it means anything:
So does this wonder-screen do everything perfectly? Not quite - but we have to dig deep to find the flaws. In particular, between the two Vitas we're testing we notice some subtle differences in uniformity under certain conditions, with the faint vertical lines appearing over grey screens on the lower brightness settings in different places. That said, this is really the only negative we could find. The screen has everything else going for it, and does justice to every kind of content we tried be it games, photographs or video.
.. I may have it worse if I tried to go for an exchange
Trust me dude you dont want them... They are annoying as hell! The quality contol at Sony is shocking! Its like a lucky dip, you might get a Vita with better blacks, more blotches, dust trapped underneath the plastic, lines on the screen, squeeky triggers/buttons, dead/trapped pixel, or you might be one of the lucky few who claim to have a perfect unit.
(from the very informative thread of the issue
Nope, I've just shown the optimal viewing settings on my VITA.
A more brown and red image being shown on the screen makes these faint lines more visible.
Here's an example on the same screen:
It's very noticeable too if you play a lot of games with lots of horizontal panning.
thank God UCGA had great art direction with lots of colors, making vertical lines neglible.. same with Rayman Origins: can't notice those faint v. lines)
Thanks again for replying.
I guess what I am trying to convince myself is that a lot of people, if not most, have these faint vertical lines. And because of differing individual visual acuity and lighting conditions, they haven't noticed it yet. You haven't noticed them in that recent batch of pictures I uploaded right?
I do now for a fact that displays that are almost perfect (perfect for a normal person) exist as shown here (not a PS VITA but a Galaxy with the same display):
..but I think they're much less common.
I know that my logic is very flawed but I'm not sure what to say xD
Thanks for still entertaining me though. It feel very grateful for it.
So I contacted Sony a while ago through live chat:
... "Are there any lines or spiderweb like effects on the screen?"
"Vertical lines, yes. What spiderweb effects?"
... "The system is considered out of warranty and will need service".
And then told me it would be 129 dollars for them to service.
Oh.. my.. GOD!
I fail to understand the logic.
Yep i have the same issue on my vita, everything is working fine for a few months until i notice those vertical lines, now im taking my chances on selling it and buying a new hoping it wont have the same issue, ile force the store to let me use it for a while before ile buy it next time
