A brand new game mode for the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has been announced called Greed Mode.
Although many fans were expecting news on the Afterbirth expansion this week, co-creator Edmund McMillen has instead revealed a new game mode.
Greed Mode is sort of like a mob/boss rush style survival challenge mode, which heavily relies on shops to give you lots of options as to how you build your baby.
Each floor in Greed Mode will feature one of Afterbirth's new double-sized shops, two treasure rooms, a curse room, a devil room and another large room with a rather ominous-looking button in the centre.
If you press said button, monsters will start spawning, with a timer counting down to zero. Every time the timer reaches zero, a fresh wave of monsters will emerge.
You can stop the spawns whenever you want by hitting the button again, but it will hurt you and reset your earnings bonus.
The Greed Mode's shops will sell a wide selection of items, including boss items and pickups. You'll need them for health and keys to open up the second treasure room for example.
The game’s latest dev blog post shows off some new combos coming in Afterbirth, along with a new boss.
According to developer Edmund McMillen, item combos were the most commonly-requested additions for the forthcoming expansion: “…one suggestion everyone seems to demand is MORE ITEM COMBOS!” he wrote on the game’s website, and then showed a few interesting ones: Rubber Cement, an item that causes Isaac’s tears to bounce off of surfaces, now works in tandem with the Technology and Brimstone beam items; this means that, if the RNG plays ball and you get Brimstone or Technology and Rubber Cement, you can bounce your beam tears all around a room for maximum chaos and destruction. The Dr. Fetus item now combines with 20/20, so you can cry out two bombs at a time.
McMillen showed off a new boss as well. Called Little Horn, he appears to be in the same ‘boss class’ as Loki, and according to the post “not only does this guy break the mold with his AI, but he also has more attacks than normal bosses… easily one of the most fun boss fights thus far.” There is GIF on the website that shows Little Horn teleporting Troll Bombs around the arena while a large black projectile harasses Isaac.
The post ended with a promise to announce the release date for Afterbirth next week.
From the blog:
and one final tease… afterbirth will feature daily runs with score boards!
what does this mean? well every day the game will generate a specific seed that will be generated the same for everyone (minus locked things) and you can now compete against the internet for best score in the run! this feature was one of my favorites in spelunky and i always wanted to do it in isaac… but how do you score a game like isaac? more on that in a later post…
Curious to see what type of scoring they intend to use.
Game is out now!
Some info on the co-op:
Joining a game steals a container heart from the main player and spawns in a little floating baby.
When a 2nd player spawns in, both players damage/tears are lowered to balance things a bit, but every aspect of whatever items isaac has at the time of spawning are applied to the baby, including usable items.
A lot of the baby forms are just cosmetic, but there are also quite a few “special babies” that each come with their own abilities.
Every special baby has a “cursed” counter part. so there is just as much of a chance in spawning a baby that will randomly spawn a troll bomb every 1-2 min. as getting a baby that heals p1 when it dies.
-co-op is local play only.
-co-op IS NOT online in anyway (aka you can only play with someone in real life next to you)
-p2 can only join of p1 has more than one container heart.
-p2 can steal life from p1 by pressing start, but cant steal any life if p1 has only one heart left.
-there are NO co-op related requirements to gain platinum god.
-there will be some co-op related achievements.
-the game will be balanced so co-op wont be as OP as you would assume
-p2 flys, but cant pick up any items.
-once p2 dies when they respawn their baby is randomly chosen again.
-p2 can leave play giving p1 back their life at any time, but if they spawn back in they will be using the same baby.
Seems like co-op will be fun.

Ok so first off im making this QA so the fans are informed, i get a constant barrage of emails, tumblr questions and tweets about rebirth, and these seem to be the most common questions.
im doing this for YOU so all i ask in return is to be sure to post this QA places so fans can read it, and if you ever see someone ask one of these, just direct them to this post please
now on to theQ&A!
Rebirth features a new non-Flash-based engine and the same designs as the original, but with brand new 16-bit pixel graphics. The game will also include additional content in the size of the Wrath of the Lamb expansion, including things that had to be cut from the original game due to the limitations of Flash.
When Isaac’s mother starts hearing the voice of God demanding a sacrifice be made to prove her faith, Isaac escapes into the basement facing droves of deranged enemies, lost brothers and sisters, his fears, and eventually his mother. The Binding of Isaac is a randomly generated action RPG shooter with heavy Rogue-like elements. Following Isaac on his journey players will find bizarre treasures that change Isaac’s form giving him super human abilities and enabling him to fight off droves of mysterious creatures, discover secrets and fight his way to safety.
It is due out early next year for PS4 and Vita. For Rebirth, McMillen tore down The Binding of Isaac and re-built it from scratch, complete with local co-op, competitive loadouts and more than two playable characters.

Game is out now!
You don't have to make 5000 posts to get your post count up.
Not to mention the game is junk imo. It would be better if it didn't come out. How did this game get such high review scores? The controls are bad the graphics are bad the audio is bad etc etc.
I kept reading that it was like the original Zelda but I don't think so Zelda came out in 1987 and is still better.
