System Storage

10 replies 158 views Edited Sep 1, 2013
So I'm trying to download a game to my PS3 system, but it's saying I don't have enough storage space. When I check my system specs, I still have 17GB waiting to be used. Is there any way to change the specifications on what that 17GB in my system has been set aside for, so that I can use it for additional game space?

you need twice the file size to be able to download and install. If you hav 17g free you can't download anything larger than 8g. How big is the game you're downloading?

You generally need double the space of whatever game you're attempting to download and install. What is the size of the game you're attempting to install?

I tried to Kudo your post and I got the Kudo limit message. I shouldn't have. A thread I spent alot of Kudos in got deleted. I know the people I gave them to lose them. I assumed I'd get them back to give out again. I was wrong. Smiley Indifferent

Game (not save) data is safe to delete.

darknovaxp I'm not worried about it. I just thought it strange that they wouldn't be returned. If I use all 50 on one thread that gets deleted they are still gone for me and for the people I gave them to. Doesn't seem right.

you need 2x the amount of space in order to download a game, you have to remember you still have to install the game.  when you download it creates a temporary install file on the game section of the xmb..

i've always thought it was stupid that we need double the space to DL & install games on our PS3s, thats not the case with the Vita which I like & hopefully it won't be that way with the PS4

It won't be that way with the PS4. You do realize you get half of that space back right? Once it's intalled the extra space is available again.
