Support for apps on the PS4

12 replies 223 views Edited Jul 10, 2013

Once of the things I envied about the Xbox 360 was the sheer number of apps available on the system, some of them I really need like Gametrailers app, GameSpot app, etc. With the PS4, will we get more apps?

They mentioned at E3 that they will, and unlike Microsoft the apps can be accessed without a pay wall. In other words, while Xbox One will require Xbox live Gold to access the apps, PS4 well be free still -no PlayStation Plus required.

You really need an APP to access websites, that are easily accessed on PS3 already WITHOUT the need for an app?

I thought the X360 had internet explorer and Bing?

I hope you aren't serious, you can't access any websites using the horrible ps3 browser. Tried going to gametrailers and gamespot and it would lag like hell if not freeze and defintely can't render modern website properly.

Xbox apps are pathetic. Even free, they require a paid XBL account.

The Vita can... I'm surfing Gamespot right now on it, watching videos too. The Vita's web browser is an upgraded html5 version of PS3's browser. So with that in mind, apps may not be needed if the browser is even more upgraded to compliment the speed of the new console.

Its still nice to have the apps conveniently on our PS's for easy access. One push of the X button and boom, already there.

I just went to gametrailers.com on my PS3, no issues whatsoever. Than again, I almost never use the PS3's browser, because I use a PC to get my online content.
