There has been slow sales of the PlayStation Vita in Japan, but Sony is not worried that the Vita will have the same slow sales figures in other markets. In Japan, the PlayStation Vita sold around 325,000 units the first week In the second and third weeks, sales figures fell behind even those of the PSP and the Nintendo 3DS.
Jim Ryan (Sony’s European Boss) had this to say:
”One of the things we have learned over the years whether PS1, PS2, PSP or PS3, is that it is dangerous or impossible to take experiences from the Japanese market to draw conclusions on other markets to attract and to predict what will happen in Europe or North America. ”
“Notwithstanding the fact that it is too early to draw conclusions, the markets are simply too different. I think the markets are in fact still further apart than they were in the past -. If that’s possible at all ”
“It is impossible for any firm conclusions from Japan and leek to draw attention to what is happening in Europe. We are more focused on the reactions of those involved, whether the specialist press and the reactions from the market. The main task is to ensure the supply for the considerable demand and ensure that everything is for 22 February is ready. “
