Couldn't Sony give you the option of choosing 768p and 900p? I see this completely possible as the lowest native res game on PS4 is Battlefield 4 at 900p!!

1360x768 on most TVs is displayed as 1080i (which on a digital TV, is technically 768p, as the TV de-interlaces the signal and diplays the picture in 768 lines instead of 540 'alternating' lines).  On my PS4, I have the choice of 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

As for BF4, yes the game is encoded at 900p, but the PS4 upscales it to 1080p (or whatever resolution your TV is capable of).

Your monitor SHOULD fully support 720p, and unless it is larger than about 40 inches, you won't notice a difference between 720p and 1080p.  You CERTAINLY won't notice a difference between 720p and 900p on ANY monitor.

The PS4 is designed to be hooked up to a TV, so Sony is probably not going to spend resources on incorporating resolutions that would only benefit about 0.01% of gamers that absolutely MUST hook their PS4 up to a computer monitor.

Help!

The Playstation display's 240Hz refresh rate is really only utilized when watching 3D content.  There is literally NO content that runs at more than 60Hz natively, and honestly, there is no reason for it, as the human eye can't physically detect any improvement above about 48hz.

No, 1080i is not 768p. Interlacing makes games run with a notorious lag. If you play a game at any i resolution, even if it plays at 60fps it will feel like is running at 30fps. So in this case 1080i is not a real option. And as I said, my TVs can "accept" 1080p just fine, displaying a real 768p or 900p respectevely, the problem is that the scaling is handled by the TV, and THAT generates, yet another type of lag, input lag.

I think is very simple to understand. And no I am not the minority, as most people with older 32 or 40 inch TVs, actually have 768p as their native res. Believe me I have seen the difference in my PC games between 720p and 768p, and is quite a lot, mostly because of pixel match. Got tired, writting from my PS4, cheers.

That is a limitation of your computer's graphics processor. What kind of computer do you have?
