I never owned a PS3 and at the time I was thrilled that they would have ports of some ps3 games for vita. So I thought itd be a ps3 on the go. Of course now i realize they have only made 1 or 2 actual good ports of PS3 games. I honestly regretted buying it in Feb 2012 until AC3L, Persona 4 and Playstation Battle royale were released recently. Its not that I didn't enjoy Uncharted, gravity rush etc. its just games were coming out that didn't appeal to me so it lost its value to me. I know I'm going to get slammed for saying this but at one point during my vita's life I actually enjoyed playing games on my iPhone more When I'm waiting for class I don't have my vita so it's much more convinient to "game" on my iPhone. The entire reason I still have my Vita is because Battle royale came out and i love playing online. In retrospect I bought a 3ds in late 2011 and sold it about 3 months ago. I thought I'd like it but didn't. Personally I think the Vita is a better investment. Like sony said Its a marathon not a sprint, in the long run I'm sure buying a vita will be a great investment.
On a side note, Unfortunately its much more socially acceptable to play "games" on your phone than to carry around a handheld so the only time my Vita is actually brought somewhere is if my family is going on vacation and we are in for a long car ride.
