Okay so i got resident evil 4 for the ps2 (but sold the ps2 a while back and kept the games) and ik that the 160gb slim does nto accept the ps2 disks, and u can buy the dl for the game for 20$ but if i already bought the game is there anyway i can get it on the ps3? or play it on the ps3? because its 1 of my fav games but i dont see y i shuld have to buy it a 3rd time (i already bought a 2nd copy of the disk when 1 was ruined)
If you wanted to play your PS2 games you shouldn't have sold your PS2 or you should've bought a BC PS3. Those "leeks" are just rumors and I don't put much stock in them.
i wouldnt doubt it, and i didnt even know it wasnt bc, i sold my ps2 before i ever bought a ps3, i only bought a ps3 cause it was on sale.
BC isnt too much to ask for... honestly it is expected, sony is too much interested in getting rich then pleasing their customers
sony must be making a ton of money... is backwards compatability really too much to ask for?
and there is leeks about the ps4 having no backwards compatability for all of our 60$ ps3 blu rays
They actually don't make "a ton of money" on the PS3. The console is what's called a loss leader. They make very little or just about break even on it, and then they make money on stuff that goes with it, i.e. games. If you buy a PS3 and play your ten year old PS2 then they lose money.
As far as backward compatibility being "expected", you're about five years late to the party. Sony removed it back in 2007. There's been plenty of time to catch up on what the PS3 does since then, and to date they've sold more PS3's without backward compatibility than they did with it.
You need to understand that Sony has fundamentally changed their stance on backwards compatiblity, since the original president of SCE "retired". At this point you shouldn't expect any future PS system to be directly BC with software from the previous generation...
