What could a virus do on a PS3?  Also not many people have one yet so I wouldn't worry about security for quite some time.  Completely different system thus Windows virus shouldn't have any effect on your system.

At least one prominent virus came out for the PSP promising people the ability to downgrade their firmware that actually bricked their units; I doubt very much that it will take long for one or two to appear for the PS3.

Just as with a PC, don't download stuff from places you don't trust or have no accountability. A) You'll probably brick your system costing you money and B) you'll reduce the number of working systems out there making it harder for everybody else to get their hands on one.

Well if its anything like Linux ( I haven't gotten my PS3 yet), a virus shouldn't affect the PS3.  Its just teh way UNIX works that it doesn't allow every user ROOT access to things.  Once you are logged out of ROOT, you pretty much can't do anything except in the "home folder" and then it only can affect files in that folder.  Now if you install windows on the PS3, he he, thats a different story.

viruses haven't been made for the ps3, and probably will not for quite some time.  Don't worry about it, and just in case cut down on the p0rn.

You get viruses from more than **bleep** from what I have heard, and I resent the   "just in case reference" to cut down the p0rn  as if to imply that is what I am worrying about and how I would get it to begin with. I just want my investment to be safe and secure.
